Are e-bikes Taking Over the World of Cycling?
According to Statista, “The e-bike market is tipped to generate around 53.5 billion U.S. dollars in revenue by 2027, with a compound annual growth rate of around 12.27 percent between 2022 and 2027. This boost in the market is forecast to be due to growing environmental and health concerns”. Are e-bikes Taking Over the World of Cycling?

Will e-bikes Dominate Cycling in the Future? I think it’s too early to make that prediction but what I can tell you for sure is that e-bikes are not going anywhere. The question seems to be how will the cycling community will feel about it. e-bikes are quite a polarizing subject these days. I know it’s annoying when some Fred passes you on a climb when you’re heart is beating out of your chest.

Instead of focusing on the negatives, let’s think about the many positives of e-bikes…

e-bikes are great for your local bike shop and the bike business overall. If bike shops are making money, there will be more of them to help service your bikes.
e-bikes are great for social riding as e-bikes can bridge the speed gap between riders of different levels.
E-bikes are fun to ride. Seriously, don’t knock e-bikes until you ride one. I’ve ridden friend’s e-bikes and let me tell you, it’s a blast.
You still get a great workout on an e-bike. You just end up going faster and farther. There are some pro-level riders that ride e-bikes in training. It’s just more fun.
My suggestion, rent an e-bike or borrow one from a friend and let me know what you think.
