2023 US Masters XC Mountain Bike Championships

Hello Masters Cyclists, the 2023 US Masters XC Mountain Bike Championships are coming up fast. This year’s event will be held July 5-9 at the Bear Creek Resort in Pennsylvania.

If you haven’t competed in a national championship event, you really should consider it. The cool thing is masters racers don’t need to pre-qualify for the event. All you need to do is sign up in your age category and you’re good to go. And who knows, maybe you’ll become a National Mountain Bike Champion! This post is a breakdown of how to sign up, the venue, how to get there, and how to train for this year’s championship.

2023 US Masters XC Mountain Bike Championships-The Venue

The 2023 US Masters XC Mountain Bike Championships will be held at the Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie Pennsylvania. Although I’ve never ridden the trails there, I have stayed at the resort many times for business and I can tell you that the resort is really a great destination. One thing that fires me up is that it’s at sea level, so I’ll be able to breathe LOL.

Below is a map of the Bear Creek mountain bike trails. Doesn’t look like anything too gnarly but we’ll see what USA Cycling comes up with.

2023 US Masters XC Mountain Bike Championships Travel Plans

If you’re not driving, the good thing is that there are 2 airports in the area. You can fly into Philadelphia and drive 45 min or you can fly into Allentown and drive 15 minutes.

Here’s the deal, this is the Masters National championships so the field will be fast, very fast so you’re going to really want to dial in your training before the race. The last time I competed in nationals, I wasn’t in the best shape and got my ass handed to me. For reference, you might want to read a few of my previous posts.
